What is Cordyceps?

Chinese Cordyceps or also known as Chinese clubmoss (Cordyceps sinensis) is a species of parasitic fungus. Unlike other beneficial Asian fungi, it does not grow on trees, but occurs in the ground. Its main food source is the larvae of the moth found there, which the cordyceps first attacks, occupies and kills, and then draws from them the nutrients needed for development. The natural area of Cordyceps is the high mountain areas of Nepal and Tibet. The harsh climatic conditions and clean environment mean that this fungus is rich in substances beneficial to the body, and its use in Asian systems of traditional medicine dates back hundreds of years. The main active ingredients to which the health-promoting properties of this fungus are attributed are:cordyceps acid and adenosine. In addition, like other mushrooms, cordyceps also contain polysaccharides.
